Instructor and Studio News
Green Shirt Studio is a proud sponsor of two upcoming theatre fundriasers, one for The Agency Theatre Collective, and the other for Akvavit Theatre. “A Full Tank of Gas and Half a Pack of Cigarettes” is on August 9th for The Agency. The evening has no cover charge and will feature a cast of 8 current/former Green Shirt students and alums (click here for details). Akvavit’s fundraiser, “Pippi’s Lost Stockings: A Skirt/Fund Raiser,” takes place on August 10th. Attend one or both to have the chance to win an entire session of Green Shirt classes, and of course, to support some cool local theatres!
Andrew Gallant is co-writer and director of The Agency Theater Collective’s Fall 2013 production, I Wish to Apologize to the People of Illinois. The Agency auditioned the last two weeks and saw some seriously amazing talent during that time, including many current and former Green Shirt students. The cast has been decided and includes Green Shirt alums Patrick Burch and Billy Baraw! More information to come… Stay tuned!
Jimmy Carrane has so much going on. First of all, his podcast Improv Nerd just reached 50 episodes! And Improv Nerd now has its own YouTube channel. Jimmy will host guest Greg Hess of Cook County Social Club and The Improvised Shakespeare Company for his next Improv Nerd on August 15th at Stage 773. The next session of Jimmy’s Art of Slow Comedy classes begins on Sept 9th at Green Shirt. Click here for details!
Keira Fromm directs the Midwest premiere of Fallow for Steep Theatre Company. The show runs now through August 17th (click here for tickets). Look for Keira’s audition workshop classes coming to Green Shirt later this fall.
Sommer Austin and Andrew Gallant‘s theatre company, The Agency Theater Collective, produces their weekly “theatrical open mic,” No Shame Theatre, this Saturday at 10:30pm at The Lincoln Loft. Melissa Jaen is offering actor headshots and other rewards if you fund her Rockethub project for her photography business, now thru 8/15/13. Melissa is also donating actor headshots to The Agency’s fundraiser on August 9th.
Jay Sukow‘s film, “Trubadeaux: A Restaurant Movie,” is getting some great press lately, including the front page of Dining Chicago. Download and watch the film here for only $5. Catch Jay performing in the upcoming shows, “Those Who Can’t,” “Jam Sandwich” and “SuburbanPROV!”
Amanda Raquel Martinez is understudying in Big Lake Big City, playing now through August 25th at Lookingglass Theatre and directed by David Schwimmer.
Allison Black and Janice Rumschlag perform in Improvised Jane Austen and host “Ladies’ Night” (an all-ladies show) on the second Saturday of Every month. The next one is August 10th at The Bughouse Theater at 10pm (click here for more info). Janice can also be seen in the upcoming indie film, A Very Busy Man.
See Michael Goodman in the cast of Million Dollar Quartet in Chicago (and elsewhere in the US) as well as multiple improv and music gigs around town. Click here to check out where he’ll be next.
