Community Guide #1: Local Indie Film
Local Indie Film
You may have noticed that North Center is absolutely packed with arts buildings, offering classes in everything from acting to glassblowing, but did you know that we are also surrounded by some of the best places in Chicago for independent film?
Here’s our guide to the best cinema in the area, and some upcoming special events:
|The Music Box Theater
Chicago International Film Festival Presents: BIG ART FILMS
Located at 3733 N Southport Ave, the Music Box is one of our classic favorites. Their “Big Art Films” series runs through the end of September, so don’t miss your chance to see an art film on a big screen!
The Davis Theater
If you’re looking for more mainstream films in a quirky setting, it doesn’t get better than the Davis. Located just up the road at 4614 N Lincoln Ave, rally your classmates for a fun evening at “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” or the 50th Anniversary restoration of “The Conversation.”
The Logan
The Logan is known for its Chicago Horror Film Festival, which (just to be confusing) is happening in September! Located at 2646 N Milwaukee Ave, you can spend the whole weekend of 9/27-29 fully immersed in the world of independent horror cinema.
